Poetic Verses: LIFE IS TO BE LIVED (but you must move)

Observing The Power

Standing in the midst of the storm,
watching diligently and with awe,
as the ocean increased it's temperament.
Watching  the trees bending to the wind,
paying tribute to it's power.

I could hear the thunder roar as
it debated with the lightening that
so eagerly attempted to display it's
dominance in heaven and earth.

I was mesmerized by the display of
this great power, of the wind, water and
fire that would eventually come and destroy
homes, human lives, animal life and
indescribable structure damage to the earth.

After the fire the rain would come and quench
the fire, the birds would sing, the sun would
shine once again, the lightening  would turn off
it's switch, the ocean would calm itself, and
the wind would be reduced to a breeze.

The sun light would replace the darkness,
turmoil and destruction would be replaced
by  peace, calmness would come over the earth
once again.  We will witness another opportunity
for mankind to get it right.

For his power comes as a thief in the night.  Let
us be keen observers of history,  that we might
not have to witness this power.

Christmas With You

TO MY WIFE ON CHRISTMAS DAY

Many years have passed, forty five years to be exact,
that we as husband and wife have shared the pleasure
and pain of  growing, loving and caring.

with each passing day, as it grew into weeks, months
and years, we grew in wisdom that held us together
as we shared the joy and burden of tears.

I am so grateful that we were patient with each other
as we sometimes stumbled as we struggled to find
our way as we moved toward our destiny.

Unconditional love and respect for each other were
the gifts received.  On this Christmas Day I asked
only for the same gifts that we have shared these
forty years, the gifts, of love, respect and
honesty.

It is my wish that we may always address any of
life's issues with an understanding heart.  And remember
that when the storms comes, we have each other and
prayer.

The final lesson we have learned from these forty five  years,
is not how many gifts we give from outside of ourselves,.
but the gifts that we give from within ourselves.

Merry Christmas to my wife, Elvira
You are the love of my life.

AN ESSAY ON THE TIMES

Our country is failing it's citizens not so
much because of inadequate training for
their police force, or lack of support for
an adequate education for all of it's citizens,
or lack of affordable housing, or an economical
down fall that was brought about by those who
wants it all, or racism that is systemic in this
country, or lack of support for those in need
of medical care, or lack of cooperation in
the political arena.

History tells us that all of the above have been
going on since the beginning of humanity, beginning
with man's disobedience to God's  Laws.  Beginning
with these sacred words: Thou Shall Not..

It is obvious that nothing that man is doing is working,
so why not take God at his word.  He (God) said,
repent of your sins, all your indiscressions, return to me.
and I will heal your land, restore your joy and supply all
of your needs.  I will make your enemies your foot stool,
peace will I restore unto you.

Isn't it about time that we stop leaning on our own
understanding, but every word that is spoken from the mouth
of God.

In view of the recent tragedies, I would like to reintroduce
to the public, these unforgettable words (I can't breathe).
These words are surely worthy of our undevided attention.
My nephew (Gamaliel Taylor)  has written a song referencing
I Can't Breathe...please take the time to listen..

I WAIT

I find you inwardly beautiful,
outwardly fascinating,
easily accessible.

Soft to the touch, strong of will,
incontrol of one's emotions.

Sculptured body,
enlighten mind,
depth of soul.

Attacks reality,
follower of dreams,
still in touch with oneself.

Listens with a true heart,
speak from a place of vision, you
are unlike anyone I have ever known.

You seek not things that glitter
or made of silver or gold.
Listen, as I wait in the rain,

I can hear your footsteps,
in the wind I hear your voice.
I wait patiently for the rain and

the wind to cease, that I might
see your face and sit in a quiet
place and talk with you once again.

POISON

Dreary days and
endless nights, tormented
by man made dreams
and their schemes.

Smoky clubs on
Sunset Boulevard, needle
infested alleyways,
and little girls that pimps craves.

I long to rid myself of this self
imposed prison of degradation,
of suffering and needless pain
But if there is no effort there is no gain.

I have discovered that my
many friends are few.
The many used me to no end,
the few helped me to begin again.
